The 20th edition of BNFF runs from 11-27.11, 2016. Along with the certified new status by FIAPF in 2014 as a competitive feature film festival in the region, the festival has widened its main competition to the whole world and aims to focus even more on visibility of European young debuts from the region and countries of low audiovisual production capacity. The festival runs three competitive programmes - International Competition Programme, Tridens Estonian Feature Competition and Tridens First Feature Competition introduced in 2015 eligible for directing debuts from all over the world. Special sub-programmes and sub-festivals are targeted towards young audiences or emphasise on special genre with international competitions in each: Animated Dreams – animations; Sleepwalkers – short and student films; Just Film – children and youth films. The industry platform consisting of Industry@Tallinn Summit, Baltic Event film & co-production market and European Film Forum runs 18-24.11 2016 and attracts over 40000 attending industry professionals (producers, buyers, distributors, sales agents, TV financiers, film makers). BNFF continues involving certain audiences outside of regular cinema goers -young & elderly people, national minorities (Russian speaking audience) and people with disabilities. Just Film has started an international film literacy project JUST STREAM amongst schools and main results will take place in 2016. A pilot project ANIMA CLOUD introduces new streaming platform for anima filmmakers, audiences and festivals. In addition there will be several film literacy events for youth, weekly screenings and film days held throughout the year.
