14th DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY will take place in the same time in five major Polish cities (Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdynia, Bydgoszcz Lublin a new location ), on May 12-21, 2017. "Weekend with Docs Against Gravity" consists of 10 films and will be screened in another 22 cities and towns between May 19-21. Over 70 filmmakers will meet the festival audience. 3 cinemas in Warsaw ( 5-2-2 screens), 1 in Lublin (2 screens), 1 in Wroclaw ( 3 screens), 1 in Gdynia (2 screens) and one in Bydgoszcz will show approx. 130 films. We plan to organize 60 events: panel discussions, workshops on social and cultural changes, film literacy meetings, concerts, . There will be 12 competition sections: Millennium Award, the main competition; Fiction/non-fiction for the best film on a boundary of genres, Amnesty International Award (the only festival in Poland with this Award), Warsaw Green Award (the only such fim competition in Poland), Chopin Nose Award for the best film on Art, Academy Jury Award, National Filmothek Award for the best film in the program of Weekend with Docs Against Gravity, Psychology Film Award and one Audience Award for all four cities . There are three local Awards given by Local Authorities: Lower Silesia Film Award in Wroclaw, Gdynia City Hall Award, and Culture Meeting Award in Lublin for the film from the main competition. Focus Monthly funds an Award for "the personality of the festival". Thematic film sections on Balkans, Psychology, and Animation docs wil topped the film program. Masterclass of Hubert Sauper and Helena Trestikova, workshop of Jan Rofekamp on distribution. Akademia Dokumentalna will provide screenings and lessons/workshops for school pupils, teachers, parents with children and senior audience in four cities Major Polish media as well as local ones will report from the festival daily. www.docsag.pl; fb Docs Against Gravity (30K fans).
